Standards for a rare cancer data ecosystem

This deliverable reports on the standards essential for the enlargement of the IDEA4RC ecosystem. It details the activities carried out to analyse the context and initiate a process to harmonise ecosystem standards. This included continuous monitoring of the relevant landscape emerging from each core technical work package, to ensure that all tools and infrastructure components developed within the project align with existing standards and ongoing standardisation initiatives, including those undertaken by other European projects or national efforts.

The work detailed in this document pursues the following goals. First, to support effective ecosystem enlargement from a technological point of view and to ensure that all tools and infrastructure components are available through OpenAPI. Second, to address and incorporate emerging European and international standards, ensuring the highest degree of interoperability among various data sources and repositories.

In pursuit of these goals, the IDEA4RC project promoted an initiative to develop a European Cancer Common Data Model, engaging various working groups within the HL7 European and international community. The details of this initiative are also described in this document.
